11-Year-Old Indonesian Boat Dancer Becomes Global ‘Aura Farming’ Sensation

Jakarta, Indonesia  — An 11-year-old boy from Riau Province, Indonesia, has taken the internet by storm after a video of him performing a calm, confident dance on a speeding traditional racing boat went viral worldwide.

The boy, identified as Rayyan Arkan Dikha from Kuantan Singingi Regency, was captured during the annual Pacu Jalur festival, a local boat race that celebrates Malay culture along the Kuantan River. Dressed in traditional attire and wearing sunglasses, Rayyan stood at the bow of the boat, making slow, graceful gestures that viewers dubbed the “Aura Farming Dance.”

The video, first shared in mid-2025, quickly spread across TikTok, X (formerly Twitter), and Instagram, amassing millions of views within days. International celebrities, including BTS members and NFL player Travis Kelce, later joined the trend by mimicking Rayyan’s moves online.

According to India Times, the trend became a symbol of “calm confidence” among Gen Z, while The Wall Street Journal described Rayyan as “a source of national pride—and envy” for embodying Indonesia’s cultural charm in the digital age. The Riau local government has since praised Rayyan for promoting regional heritage and offered him an educational scholarship.

The “Aura Farming” phenomenon highlights how local traditions can unexpectedly go global in the era of social media — turning one village boy into an international symbol of confidence and coolness.
